Duck Pond Cellars is a family winery which owns and operates 340 acres of vineyards in northern Oregon (for Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris) and 520 in eastern Washington (for Chardonnay and Merlot). They are a remarkable success story having grown in one generation from farmers into the biggest winery in Oregon. Most of the fruit for the Pinot Grigio comes from Salem in the Willamette Valley. The cool 2007 vintage growing season resulted in Pinot Grigio grapes with superb, natural acid structure. This wine was fermented entirely in stainless steel at cool temperatures to maximize retention of volatile fruit aromas. This wine is bursting with tropical fruit aromas, such as mango and star fruit. This light and very drinkable wine is delicious when paired with fish or seafood, especially drunk al fresco with a barbecue.
