In the early 1800s the grandfather Giuseppe Rivetti, whose nickname was Pin, emigrated to Argentina from Neive. Once he returned to Piedmont he founded the family winery and brought his children up in Castagnole Lanze to be dedicated and expert winegrowers. Il Nero di Casanova is 100% Sangiovese from 7 year old vines both from the Casanova estate (80%) and from the Sezzana vineyard (20%). It offers perfumed aromas of ripe berries, vanilla, mint and coffee. This wine is full bodied, with sweet tannins, berry and chocolate flavours and a hint of pepper. There is impeccably balanced fruit, oak and acidity, and a fine finish. Try pairing this fabulously full and versatile red with pasta dishes, grilled meat or moroccan lamb tagine to make the most of the sweet and spicy flavours this wine has to offer.
