First established in 1857, today Bertani is still owned by the same family and vaunts more than a century and a half of unbroken tradition in the wines of Valpolicella. The company is based in a jaw-droppingly lovely renaissance villa and nurtures one of the largest libraries of amazing old vintages in the region, some of which can be made available on request. The Bertani company owns vineyards and cellars in the Valpantena, on the Villa Novare estate in the Valpolicella, as well as land in the Soave area and in the areas around Lake Garda. The company headquarters is in the original cellars in Grezzana, north-east of Verona, where the historic vineyards are still to be found and where the work of vinification, ageing, bottling and despatch take place. Villa Arvedi Amarone is born on the hillsides of the Valpantena, the only cru denomination in the whole Valpolicella area. Villa Arvedi is another example of Bertani’s traditional dedication to producing Amarone, with this modern and well balanced Amarone which is nonetheless authentic and rich in body. New fermentation and drying techniques give this wine an elegant balance of exuberant fruity notes. It has a rich blackberry flavour, a minty scent, a sweet cherry taste and the spicy hints that are typical of this valley. 'Amarone Villa Arvedi' is deep dark ruby with a violet rim. Notes of black and sour cherries, berries, spices and dried fruit. The palate is creamy with soft tannins and integrated oak. A lighter, fruitier and younger version of Bertani’s icon Amarone Classico. This is a “traditional Amarone for today” perfect for enjoying young or matching with modern cuisine. Excellent with duck.
