Morey-Saint-Denis 2004
This excellent Cote de Nuits domaine, based in Gevrey-Chambertin, goes back seven generations and is now run by hands-on winemaker Denis Marchand. Morey Saint Denis is often overlooked in favour of its more famous neighbours Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin, but somewhat unfairly because it is situated on the same all important stratum of limestone and there is no reason why a good producer should not make wine of equal distinction. This is a good example with a lovely expressive bouquet, with good firm fruit and plenty of finesse.
