If our friends from Domaine Moreau have a tiny estate, we’re not quite sure what adjective to use for Domaine Lecomte. At 1.3ha we’re sure the word micro or even nano should somehow be employed but we can’t quite think how. The term Clos, meaning a small walled vineyard, is more commonly used in Burgundy and the approach to terroir at Clos Le Comte could quite easily be described as burgundian (though we hope this description won’t cause offence amongst the bordelaise). The vineyard was first planted in 1929 and average age of the vines is in excess of 50 years old. Jean Michel Lecomte made his first vintage in 2000. The wine spends only a year in barrel resulting in a well-balanced wine with an exotic touch.
