Chateau Chasse-Spleen Moulis-en-Medoc 2003
What a splendid name, evoking 19th century symbolism: some attribute it to Lord Byron, others to Baudelaire, and still others to the painter Odilon Redon. Whatever the true origin of the name may be, since those days Chasse-Spleen has been producing remarkable wines for many years. Justifiably well known, this estate is rated by Robert Parker as an equivalent third growth and has been making some outstanding wines for the last thirty years. Their 2003 was one of the best wines of the region, full of intense black fruit.
Robert Parker rating:89-91/100
