Bergerac Merlot 2005
Based on a clay and limestone plateau just to the south of Bergerac in the heart of Dordogne. The style of wine is influenced by the proximity of Bordeaux, using Semillion and Sauvignon for the white wines and Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon for the reds. Merlot/Cabernet Franc: Typical Merlot plummy and jammy fruit on the nose. Warm and silky on the palate with soft tannins, the plummy fruit comes through along with blackcurrants and hints of prunes. The Cabernet Franc adds body making this a easy drinking everyday red at an everyday price.
