We are delighted to introduce this range of sweet wines from the renowned Union of Viticultural Cooperatives of Samos. The Cooperative was formed in 1934, when 26 of the island's villages grouped together in the face of potential colletive financial ruin. 80 years later, the Cooperative has blossomed, and produces outstanding sweet wines. Samos has been making sweet Muscat wines for 3000 years, and these historic wines were awarded Greece's first AOC in 1956.
Golden in colour, this Vin Doux has a seductive bouquet of honeysuckle, apricot and honey. On the palate it is supple, lemony yet sweet, with medium body, acidity and a medium-long finish. Good ageing potential, and perfect served chilled with melon and prosciutto, or baklava.Yiamas!
"This cheeky little half bottle is made from the Muscat grape and it has the most deliciously full nose and palate. Its pear juice theme is so attractive that I defy anyone not to fall for its charms. Richer than the Minervois but lighter than the Riverina you can tackle caramel or toffee-infused dishes with this wine but chocolate might be a step too far!" - Matthew Jukes in The Daily Mail, 11/12/15more ↓ less ↑
