The Campbell family winemaking heritage began in 1870, when Scotsman, John Campbell vintaged his first wine from his " Bobbie Burns" vineyard. The venture prospered and by 1885 he had 15 hectares planted to vines. Today the vineyards total over 64 hectares and their wines are known and appreciated in major markets throughout the world including the United Kingdom, the USA and Canada. The wines are distinctive and world class. They spring from the unique qualities of the Rutherglen Wine Region, four generations of knowledge and a dedication to innovation. This Muscat is bright amber gold with copper tints. Fresh raisin fruit backed by a hint of grape spirit and aged oak characters rise from the glass. The palate is luscious and lingering with plenty of sun-ripened raisin fruit, typical of muscat from the Rutherglen region. The acid balance and tannin from barrel ageing prevents the wine from being cloyingly sweet. Blended for optimum flavour and balance at the time of bottling, this wine will not improve with further cellaring and should ideally be enjoyed soon after opening.
