The grapes for Perrier Jouët's excellent non-vintage Grand Brut come from vineyards in the Cote des Blancs, the Montagne de Reims and the Marne Valley. The wine-making process is quite traditional, with the fruit pressed on wooden screw presses. The Grand Brut has an attractive bouquet with youthful, delicate, creamy hints with a touch of biscuity and yeasty notes. There are lively persistent bubbles with clean, soft, creamy fruit, excellent intensity and a lingering finish. Overall it is elegant and balanced. Pair this beauty with a fish terrine or carpaccio of scallops - or maybe just a dozen fresh oysters.
