Domaine de Petit Roubie - Organic Sauvignon 2007

Domaine de Petit Roubie Organic Sauvignon Blanc 2007

This is a 56 hectare organic estate down near Sete on the Mediterranean. Run by husband and wife team they produce an impressive range of varietal vins de pays, which display lots of pure ripe fruit.
Sauvignon Blanc (or simply Sauvignon) is a white wine grape commonly grown in the Loire Valley and Bordeaux regions of France but this dry style Sauvignon is produced in the warm-climate Languedoc in a region famous for Oysters.
Depending on climate, Sauvignon Blanc offers very different aromas, from grass to pepper to grapefruit. The vine often buds late but ripens early, which allows it to perform well in sunny climates when not exposed to overwhelming heat. Dry-style Sauvignon are very versatile in accompanying foods, including French cheeses, tomatoes, peppers, garlic or other strong flavours, and is steadily increasing in popularity as white wine drinkers continue to seek alternatives to Chardonnay.
