Bourgeois Sancerre Rose Les Baronnes 2006
Domaine Henri Bourgeois, Sancerre.
'Bourgeois Sancerre Rose Les Baronnes' 2006
An acclaimed producer whose wines exhibit the complexity of the terroir of Chavignol, being chalky with a touch of gunflint, initially steely, then ripeness in the mouth with a broad array of flavours and wonderful length. Sancerre is one of the most famous wines in France. Sancerre is also a very beautiful village with a typical castle in the Loire valley.
'Les Baronnes' comes from the slopes separating the Chavignol from Sancerre, the terroir being an amalgam of clay and limestone chalk and is more vinous and herbaceous than it's white cousins with notes of elderflower and Ivy as well as ripe kiwi fruit. Masses of ripe red berry flavours make this fantastic summer drinking. Try this rose chilled to accompany a summer picnic - very refreshing.
