'Domaine Raymond Julien, Mirausse Minervois Rouge de l`Azerolle 2006'. Raymond Julien is a grower to watch out for. Located in Badens due east of Carcassonne in the south west part of Minervois. Le Clos de l`Azerolle is pure Carignan from fifty-year-old vines, sinewy yet supple, brambly chewy fruit with a most agreeable iron-earthiness. This wine is sweet full bodied Syrah drenched with warm cassis fruit and white chocolate. Fruit to the fore and promising. Rich dark berries and spice with sweet oak. Supple and full. A modern style but well done, says Decanter awarding it four stars.
